The challenge:

Our plan was to create a coastal retreat for us to escape to, helping us switch off from our busy working lives in the city.

It was an investment property too as for a few months a year it would be rented out to holiday makers and so it needed to be as hardwearing as it was homely.

With the help of a local builder we stripped the house right back so when it came to fitting out the kitchen had a blank canvas to put our own design stamp on it through high quality, stylish products.

We found simple and modern units from Ikea, teaming them with flooring and walls in similar soft, muted hues. As to the cooker, we love how well built and tactile the De’Longhi is, and its retro styling and vibrant colour really helps bring the theme of the whole kitchen to life.

It cooks brilliantly, is easy to keep clean – essential for holiday rentals – and the hidden compartment at the bottom is great for storing oven trays.

What we love most:

The large multifunction oven that makes cooking for family gatherings so easy.
